So I was looking for something to write about this week and I thought doing the secret life of a book blogger tag, a tag I found on the bibliophile girl uk. So here we go!
How Long Have You Been A Blogger?
I’ve been blogging a little over a year now. I started blogging after reading The diary of a bookseller and the book was a huge inspiration for me, I knew I wanted to spend my time preaching about how important print books are.
At what point do you think you will stop?
Honestly never. I love blogging and I would love to make a career out of books, I’m really hoping this blog will be my way of doing it. The blog also gives me something productive and creative to do, helping with my own mental health.
What is the best part?
The best part, like most bloggers would say I’m sure, is knowing that there’s someone out there in the world who’s taken 5 minutes out of their day to sit down and read something that I’ve put time into. It’s very satisfying. And I love research, looking into new books and things happening in the book world.
What is the worst part?
The pressure I put on myself. I feel like if I haven’t written a blog post for that week then I’ve somehow failed at being a blogger, I know it’s stupid but I guess the worse part is my own doing. Other than that I bloody love what I do.
How long does it take you to find/create pictures to use?
Maybe 10-30 minutes depends what the photo is for. If it’s for Bookstagram then I normally take half an hour where as if it’s for the blog post itself then I normally push them out pretty quickly. I really take pride in my Bookstagram and so I want it to look nice.
Who’s your book crush?
Ohhh. This is a really hard one. I don’t really have one but I would say my book best friend would be Kit Snicket, I love her character even if you only get little bits of her in the books. Honestly I just wanna be best friends with anyone from the VFD.
What author would you like to have on your blog?
I did a really good blog post with Darran Shan and I would say that was a huge chance for me, I loved every second of speaking to him. I would also love to meet Lemony Snicket, I can imagine he’s a really interesting man and I would love to ask him some questions about the Sugar Bowl.
What do you wear when you write your blog?
Mostly PJs because I don’t wear clothes if I can get away with it.
How long does it take you to prepare a post?
Depends on the blog post really, this post was a simple case of googling it and reading through the questions. Last week’s took a little longer because I had to get the screenshots and if I’m doing a review it takes me as long as it takes me to read the book. It all just depends.
How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?
I love the community, especially on Insta. If I post a photo I know I’ll end up having a really interesting conversation with someone about what I post and always get a lot of love. It’s amazing and had made me feel very very welcome.
What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?
SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!! I can not stress this enough, you could have the worlds best blog and be an expert writer but if no one knows about your blog then it’s pointless. The main one I focus on is Instagram because I find it the best way to connect to people and promote yourself. So I think as soon as you’ve picked a name and set up the website itself, set up a Twitter and Instagram and maybe a Facebook page.
So there it is, letting you guys find out a little more about me. I really had fun with this one.
